Google images has informed me that I am the proud owner of a 1981 Metal Vintage Strawberry Shortcake Lunch Box, sans thermos. Online this lunch box is going for about anywhere between $4-30. With the thermos it appears to be going for around $30-60.
I found it in, you guessed it, the knick knack section of Savers. Savers was about to close and I had picked it up and put it back several times. I took my husband back to where it lived and asked permission to adopt it...for nostalgia reasons of course. After all I am an 80's girl.
Of course in my heart I knew I wanted it, but it's always hard to splurge 10 buckaroos at a thrift store. Yes, Savers was asking $9.99 which anyone who has ever dabbled in money or shopping knows is just a fancy number representing $10 and $10 is nothing to shake a stick at.
Nevertheless my husband fully supported my need to relive my childhood despite the price tag. So maybe someday if hard times befall us I can sell this piece of history for a small profit of $20...or if I can find the thermos $40, either way it's money, and fortunately for me, God provided me the moola to purchase this happy slice of my youth, so I won't be auctioning it off any time soon...
